1. Summáját írom Eger várának Megszállásának, viadaljának Szégyönvallását császár hadának Nagy vígaszságát az Magyar Királynak (/Ferdinánd Királynak) 2. Csuda bátorok ott benn valának, Bölcsen hadnagyok ott forgódának, Jóllehet bennök sokan hullának, Rajtok törökök semmit kophatának. 3. Isten megadá szerencséjöket Mert ő meghallá könyörgésüket Ám ott elveszte sok törököket Szégyenbe hozá az ellenségeket 4. A tömlöcbástyá_nál Dobó vala Ott ő apródját ellőtték vala Ő keze-lába sebesült vala (Ott) Egri asszonyok vitézködnek vala 5. I am writing the story of Eger Castle
Its occupation, its fight
Confession of shame to the Emperor’s army

There were some really brave people in there,
Wise lieutenants revolved there,
Although many of them fell,
On them, the Turks could spit nothing.

God may give them fortune
Because he would hear their pleas
But he lost many Turks there
Put the enemies to shame

There was Dobó (István) at the prison bastion
There, they shot his little one
He was wounded in his hands and feet
There, women were fighting

Behold, many stones were carried to the altar
They throw them with great courage
At Ali basa’s golden flag
They are heroes, and they are cheerful

Have you already heard the story of this castle
The history of Eger’s quarters ?
We worship our heavenly father on it
Do not withdraw your mercy from us

May He keep Eger for the rest of our lives
